Here at Echo Lake, we offer classes for both engineering and mixing. If you've ever been interested in doing your own recording or mixing, this is a great way to learn.

Matt has over 18 years of teaching experience with full classes, small groups and one on one. Let him share with you some of the many secrets he's picked up along the way!

For Intro to DAW Recording, Matt teaches groups of 6 to 8 people at a time or individually. Please contact us for more info.

Intro to DAW Recording (3 hrs) - $250
In this three hour hands-on class, you will get a fantastic introduction to the world of recording. Classes are for larger groups. Topics include:

Microphones (patterns, types and capsules)

Miking techniques for drums, bass, guitar, vocals and more

Mono vs stereo miking techniques

Gain vs volume

Mic, line and Hi-Z signals

Signal flow

Phase issues

Recording tips, tricks and techniques
Students will get hands on instruction and will have an opportunity to mic instruments and vocals themselves. As well, there will be time at the end for Q&A and each student will go home with digital materials detailing what was covered in the class.

Matt also teaches one on one mixing classes for a more personalized experience. This ensures that you get all your questions answered.
Intro to Mixing (two 3 hour sessions) - $350 total
This class is conducted one on one between you and Matt. This will allow you to take the class on a schedule that fits your needs, for the time to be more hands on and for you to ask questions in an immediate way. You will receive printed materials on all the covered content as well.

In the introductory class, you will be exposed to the basics of studio mixing. Topics will include:
